Reviewing XOCIETY: How to Play the NFT Game

Explore Xociety: A New MMOTPS by Ndus Interactive

Xociety, developed by Ndus Interactive, is an exciting new MMOTPS currently in the early beta stage. As a playtester, I got a chance to dive into its world, featuring three main activities: exploring the main hub, engaging in PvP modes, and battling bosses in PvE mode reminiscent of WoW-style raids.

Availability and Specifications

For now, Xociety is exclusive to PC players with closed access. The game demands medium-level hardware, with some graphically intensive sections that push your system’s capabilities.

Lore and Characters

The lore of Xociety is still unfolding. So far, we know that humans went into cold dormancy, with two main characters, Red and Ndus, recently awakening. They are on a quest to discover the world that has evolved during their dormancy.

Gameplay Overview

Character Customization

Upon entering Xociety for the first time, players are prompted to customize their characters. The customization options are extensive, allowing adjustments from headwear to shoes.

Main Hub and Game Modes

After customization, players find themselves in the main hub. This area features a central room and side rooms leading to PvP modes. For PvE mode, players enter through a portal in the middle of the hub.

During my playtest, the PvP section only had a free-for-all mode. Players could pick up various weapons scattered around the arena. For team deathmatches, we improvised by splitting into teams with white and black clothing, counting scores manually.

PvE Mode

The standout feature for me was the PvE mode. Sixteen players entered an icy world, armed with a variety of weapons and special abilities, to combat small, medium, and large beasts, culminating in a final boss battle against a creature named Thor. This boss used deadly attacks like jumping on players and calling down asteroids. Pro tip: aim for headshots and the creature’s backside for maximum damage.

Review and Impressions

Xociety’s playtest was immensely enjoyable and stable, especially for a game in late alpha. The graphics were impressive, with detailed environments, though long-range views sometimes appeared blurred, possibly by design.

Sound Design

Each weapon had a distinct sound effect, enhancing the immersive experience. However, an ambient soundtrack in the main hub and sound effects for character movements and interactions would improve the overall experience.

Gameplay Analysis

The gameplay is where Xociety shines. The early build was stable, with excellent hit registration. Character customization and the variety of weapons in both game modes were highlights. However, adding more PvP modes and diverse PvE worlds would enhance the game further.

Final Thoughts

Considering its current development stage, Xociety offers one of the most fun gaming experiences I’ve had. Ndus Interactive has yet to fully implement the MMO aspects like crafting and trading, but these features are anticipated in future playtests. I eagerly await the game’s evolution and the upcoming playtests.
